Our customers told us that we weren’t clear about how we expect them to leave our properties when they move to a new home, or that they could be charged for repairs to bring the property back up to standard for new tenants.

In response to this feedback, we created a ‘Leaving Your Home’ guide to provide customers with the right information and ensure complete transparency around what we need from them.

Understand: We truly understand others' needs before we act.

As part of the re-design of our website and customer portal, we engaged extensively with our customers to understand barriers and pain points.

One thing we heard was that it was difficult to quickly find the right information, so we asked our customers to help us prioritise the services they access via the website landing page, and invited them to be involved with testing to make sure the website is intuitive, easy to use, and fully meets their needs.

Collaborate to innovate: We collaborate with colleagues, customers and partners to develop innovative services.

Collaborate

We wanted to understand the main challenges our customers face and to come up with ideas to better support them, so we carried out an 8-week ‘spark lab’ innovation project. Staff from across the organisation worked together to review our data, speak to customers, and generate solutions.

The outcome is our Settling-In service, providing customers with support during the first 12 weeks of their tenancy. As a direct result of this service, our customers say they feel better able to manage their household bills and more established within the community.

Care: We come to work because we care about providing good quality, affordable homes and services to those that need them. We believe we can make tomorrow better than today.

Care

During the pandemic we launched our Hardship Fund to support customers who were badly impacted.

This scheme has made such a difference that we have decided to keep it running and to increase the budget. It is now our Customer Support Fund, and we use it in various ways to assist those who need it, such as by purchasing white goods or furniture essentials; helping customers to overcome barriers to living well in their Raven home.
