If you were a Reigate and Banstead Borough Council tenant when your home was transferred to us and have lived in this home ever since, you may be eligible for the Right to Buy scheme. You could also qualify for this if you transferred to us from the London Boroughs of Merton and Sutton. This means you could receive a discount of over £80,000 when buying your home, depending on its value and the length of your tenancy.

Right to buy scheme

If your tenancy started with us or you transferred to us from another housing association or council you may be eligible for the Right to Acquire scheme. This could give you a discount of £16,000 in Surrey and up to £13,500 in Sussex when buying your current home.

Right to acquire scheme

If your household earns less than £80,000 a year you may be able to buy a shared ownership home. This means you would buy a share of your home and pay rent on the rest. You can purchase additional shares in your home over time. You need to buy the share of your home using savings or a mortgage and for many people this is an affordable way to buy your own home. Shared ownership homes are usually new so in most circumstances you cannot convert your current home to shared ownership.
