Young People

For the last two years Raven has provided a specific service for young residents led by Tash Scully, Raven’s Youth Inclusion Co-ordinator, working to deliver our Children and Young Peoples' Strategy.

We have provided many different opportunities for young people, and working in partnership with local organisations. We are an AQA Unit Award Scheme centre and many of our projects are designed to ensure participants leave with a national accreditation.

Previous projects include:

  • dance and football pitch-up-n-play summer holiday sessions, which attracted over 100 young people and helped create various long term projects working with and for young people locally. It was shortlisted for a regional TPAS "What We Are Proud Of" Award due to its focus on partnership working.
  • fishing and pond development project
  • junior wardens schemes
  • supporting other organisations to set up estate based youth clubs
  • drama projects
  • decision making via youth forums and youth management committees
  • providing the Youth Worker for the Friday night Redhill Youth Club (pilot basis)
  • Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers within our projects
  • Streamlining and sourcing external funding to reduce cost

We have been awarded the youth centre contract from Surrey County Council and we will be managing provision from April 2012 in the following centres in Reigate and Banstead:

  • Horley Young People's Centre (Horley)
  • Phoenix Youth Centre (Tadworth)
  • Banstead Youth Centre (Banstead)
  • Sovereign Youth Centre (Reigate)
  • Redhill Youth Club (Part time Redhill)

We are looking for adult volunteers to support our work with young people, voluntary organisations who offer a service to young people, and young people to directly shape the programmes at the centres to ensure we meet local young people's needs. If this sounds like you, please contact Tash at  youth@ravenht.org.uk or call 01737 272526.
