Training and Development
Raven currently employs approximately 180 staff and is committed to training and development.
We are a recognised Investors in People (IIP) employer and have held this accreditation since 2005.
Induction to Raven
When you join Raven, a comprehensive induction programme is ready to give you all the tools you need to start in your role. This involves:
Corporate Induction - a 2-day training programme at a local hotel where you will learn about Raven's values, our dedicated approach to customer services and the attitude we expect from staff; as well as considering diversity and how we involve residents in our work.
Company Induction - this is an opportunity to learn about the many departments that work at Raven. A short presentation from each team will ensure you start to learn about the vast areas in which we operate.
Departmental Induction - your new line manager will have prepared a specific programme for your induction to your role and immediate team. Here you will learn more about your role and responsibilities, meet the team with which you will work, have a tour of the building and potentially have the opportunity to spend time to visit our properties, or the areas in which we work.
Personal Development
Annually, you will have an appraisal with your line manager where you will be able to look at your objectives for the year ahead and draw up a Personal Development Plan specifically for you, to outline the training and development that you will need over the coming year. You will also have a mid-year interim appraisal to assess how your progress is developing.
Raven is committed to developing its staff and uses various methods of training to assist with this. For example, Raven is accreditated with being an 'employer of apprentices' and currently employ 2 apprentices, one who is working as a carpenter and one as a bricklayer. Raven delivers in-house courses including personal safety, manual handling as well as management and leadership skills.
Professional Education
Raven is committed to supporting staff to receive a professional education and has sponsored many to achieve diplomas, HND's and NVQ's to name a few.
Short Courses
Staff regularly attend short courses, seminars and workshops both internally and externally. From specific courses in subject areas relating to staff roles to generic subjects such as customer services and equality & diversity. Raven is committed to ensuring staff have up to date knowledge and can develop their personal aspiriations.
Staff Conference
Annually, Raven holds a staff conference as an opportunity for the whole organisation to get together and enjoy spending time with colleagues whilst learning and contributing to what matters most to Raven.
Historically, conferences have had a theme, including environmental sustainability and the recession. Exploring these topics in more detail with interactive exercises and presentations are all part of the day.
