Resident Involvement within temporary accommodation

Children from Hurstlands celebrating the royal wedding with a street partyAlthough, by nature, residents in temporary accommodation are not able to put down permanent roots, Raven still encourages them to build relationships with the wider community and with Raven.  We actively encourage people in temporary accommodation to work with us in shaping and improving the services we provide.  We do this through a range of resident involvement activities.

Temporary accommodation officers arrange residents meetings and events for each individual scheme.  Past events include Santa’s grotto, east egg hunts and street parties.

We work very closely with the charity Loveworks based in Reigate.  Cooking classes, coffee mornings and makeovers are among many of the events that they have arranged for our residents at Colne House in Redhill.

Colne House has also set up its own residents association.  They have regular house meetings to discuss cleaning and any house issues.  All the residents came together to secure funding and purchase garden play equipment for the children and a communal BBQ for the summertime.
