About our temporary accommodation

Raven has 75 homes for people needing temporary accommodation while waiting for permanent homes.  Raven currently owns and/or manages temporary accommodation for local people in Reigate and Banstead, Tandridge and Crawley areas.

Improving temporary accommodation

Temporary accommodation has often been of poor quality with shared kitchens and bathrooms.  Since Raven was formed in 2002, we have had an active programme to improve or rebuild temporary accommodation which is short of our standards.  In the past five years Raven has worked with the local authorities in Reigate and Tandridge to open high quality, purpose built, self–contained accommodation to replace sub-standard hostel style homes.

Wickham House refurbished houseIn Reigate and Banstead we have worked in partnership with the council to develop a joint strategy to improve the standard of temporary accommodation and reduce the overall number of homes to better match the current and likely future demand for temporary accommodation in the borough.  In March 2008 Rosemead House, now known as Wickham House was modernised and extended to provide 17 self contained flats.

Between 2006 – 2006 Raven worked with Tandridge District Council to build three new temporary accommodation schemes – two in Hurst Green and one in Caterham.  The schemes have 1 and 2 bedroom flats and have been a great success with residents, as well as with the local community.  Residents have much needed high quality homes and the local community no longer has to deal with the anti-social behaviour, which was a feature of the temporary accommodation that these new homes replaced.

Most recently in April 2011 Massetts Road bedsit style accommodation has been modernised and re-developed into 5 flats and 4 houses.
