Fire safety

Planning escape routes

Plan your escape route now. A fire can develop and spread in a house or flat very quickly, so you must plan what everyone should do to escape if a fire starts. Once you have decided on your action plan, make sure everyone in your household understands it and knows what to do. Practice it together.

Some temporary accommodation, The Dome in Redhill and our sheltered housing all have specific fire escape procedures. Make sure you understand the instructions now.

Don't block your escape routes or clutter the stairs and corridors of your building. As a resident of the building, you are responsible for ensuring that shared stairs and other communal areas are kept clear of obstructions such as bikes, boxes, prams etc. and flammable materials.
