Raven has been shortlisted for the Energy Awards 2011 under the "Excellence in Carbon Reduction - Small Company" category for its innovative lighting project.Raven has been shortlisted for the Energy Awards 2011 under the "Excellence in Carbon Reduction - Small Company" category for its innovative lighting project.
The project surveyed all lighting in and around Raven's offices in Redhill and Tadworth, including overground and underground car parks, security lighting, accent lighting and general office lighting. Key changes are the installation of LED floodlights around the Redhill office to improve car park and security lighting and changing inefficient fluorescent office lighting for modern, low energy models. These changes are estimated to saving around 20% on electricity bills, equating to just over £15,000 per year, as well as reducing Raven's carbon emissions by 8.5 tonnes per year.
Claire Lipop, Raven's head of environmental sustainability, explains: 'We are delighted our project has been recognised in these awards, which mark Raven out as leading in the area of carbon reduction and efficiency.
As well as delivering some dramatic financial and carbon savings, the new lights will also have an impact on our working environment, with improved health and safety, better quality lighting and generally smarter looking lights. It is also extremely replicable, and I would encourage any organisations interested in making these savings to invest a bit of time and money into making these improvements, as the potential pay off is huge."
